Writing Quality Online Content On Educational Topics

With the future of education in limbo and everyone drawing lines in the sand and picking sides, it seems there is enough chaos and controversy to fill up a 1000 newspapers with articles about how we ought to be running our education system. Whereas, we as Americans all seem to agree on the importance of education, it appears to be the getting everyone on the same pages as to how to get there which may never be agreed upon, in fact, I bet you'd agree to all this so far right? Good, so let's talk.
Think about all the sub-topics available for education article writing, you can write about getting admitted to the college of your choice, choosing which college to attend, and the need for stronger education in subjects of math and science. You can also talk about controversial topics such as the political correctness, socialism slant, and left-leaning professors indoctrinating students in college. And if you do like contentious issues, education is full of them, here are some more things that I've written on and you can too:
Vouchers
School Sports
Homeschooling
For-Profit Colleges
College Tuition Costs
Student Loan Problems
Special Education Needs
English As a Second Language
Rote Memorization and Creativity
Standardized Testing and the NCLB Law
Teachers Unions, Pay, Legacy Costs, Tenure
Textbooks Versus Digital E-Textbook in the Future

Indeed, I would urge all online article writers as the 2012-2013 school season begins to put forth your very best articles on these topics and topics of a similar vein. Education is on everyone's mind, and not just because it is an election year, because it very much has to do with the future of our nation. We are only as good as our schools were 20 years the prior. If we mess up our education, we will have hell to pay, and we will find ourselves nothing more than a footnote in the annals of history of great nations which once were.
Keeping the topic of education at the top of our list in our society guarantees that we will continue to put energy in the right spot and as our civilization becomes more technologically advanced we need well-trained, well-schooled, and highly educated people to run it. Just because in the future the robots may be doing all the work, or our education system may be completely be online that doesn't mean we don't need educated folks to make it work. We definitely will.
It is my hope that you will please consider all this and think on it, and put in your two cents when it comes to education, let's hear about your ideas, innovations, and new concepts to take this great nation forward.

How to Fly Safely in Icing Conditions

Airframe icing is probably at the top of most aviators' hazard list. As such we need to not only understand the condition, but have an effective game plan to deal with it. This information below pertains equally as well to both de-iced and non-deiced aircraft, however, much greater caution needs to be exercised when applied to non-deiced aircraft as if caught in very adverse conditions, one's options are much more limited.
I have been flying all types of aircraft for 35 years, in all manner of winter conditions and have found that icing does not have to be feared if planned properly. Different aircraft have different characteristics in icing conditions. Generally speaking, an aircraft such as a Piper Seneca with a very fat leading edge wing can carry a significant load of ice with only 10 or 20 knots loss of airspeed. Other types such as the Beech Barron or Cessna 310 do not do so well. The thinner the leading edge on an aircraft, the bigger the airflow disruption under icing conditions.
As with everything else in aviation, success begins with a good plan of action. In preparing for a flight that has the potential to encounter icing conditions, there are a few critical tests to run before departure.
1. Escape Hatch 1 - What does the route look like ceiling and visibility-wise. Are the bases higher, perhaps above 4000 feet AGL, or are the very low across the route. A reasonable ceiling across the route is preferable. If things get dicey in icing conditions at a particular altitude, you always have the option of descending below the conditions under IFR.
2. Escape Hatch 2- Where are the tops? Your flight altitude in cruise will hopefully be able to keep you in top and out of icing conditions enroute. Tops reports can be had, although it takes a little effort. The first place to look is in PIREPS form the weather service. Pilots often make reports to NWS or ATC about tops and icing conditions. Another effective method that I have found extremely valuable on departure and arrival it to call the towers by phone before departure and get the information from them. Often they will know this from in and outbound aircraft. If they are not aware of the tops, if you ask, they will usually ask an inbound or outbound aircraft to call the tops. There is no better and more current way to get area tops and icing conditions, as this information will be as current as it can get.
3. Escape Hatch 3 - Air temperatures. As part of your preflight, know what the temperatures aloft are and take them with you for departure. Ideally you want to see freezing levels of at least 4 to 5 thousand feet, but there are many days in winter when the temperature is freezing at the ground. On days where there is a freezing level aloft, you will have warmer air to descend to should you be in icing conditions.
Preflight - Your aircraft. Thoroughly pre-flight your de-ice equipment. Wing and tail boots, props boots, pitot heat, windshield heat (if you have it), should all be thoroughly check and proven before departure. Propeller anti-ice boots are 4 or 6 separate components (depending on whether you have two or three bladed props) dependent on each other to function properly. This can only be dome by turning the system on, stepping outside the aircraft and putting a hand on the blade itself for warmth. Most systems have an ammeter in the cockpit that will indicate the various phases of heat being activated on each blade. Amperage varies, but the target for most systems is somewhere in the area of 20 to 30 amps. If the ammeter indicates this range of draw, chances are pretty good that the system is working correctly. It cycles down to say 5 or 10 amps, then return to 20 to 30, you most likely have a weak or no power to at least one blade. I have found that when this condition occurs, it is most often a frayed wire in the prop hub ground or partially grounding to the prop cone. Another telltale sign is static in you r headset that you do not normally hear. This would be that voltage getting to the radios and causing slight interference. Discovering a blade out in-flight can often render the entire system useless under certain conditions where ice could build up on the weak or dead blade and create a violent shaking of the aircraft. The only way to recover from this condition is to shut the entire system off, power back the engine to reduce the shaking, and find warmer air if possible as quickly as possible.
If your aircraft checks out properly and you have at least one escape hatch that passes the test, you are in pretty good shape for departure. I like to have at least two. Not to say you should not depart with none, but in such case be very confident of you aircraft's ability to deal with icing conditions. Non de-iced aircraft should NOT depart without at least 2 of the escape hatches available to them.
Flying In Icing Conditions
Prior to entering any icing conditions, turn any available anti-icing devices on. I most cases this will be t propeller heat and pitot heat. This combination is also appropriate before taking off into possible icing conditions when icing can be expected soon after takeoff.
Should you find yourself in a situation where ice is beginning to accumulate, most aircraft will take at least a ¼ inch give or take with out too much negative effect on flight. Once any more than that begins to accumulate, the first symptom will probably be a noticeable loss of airspeed starting with 5 or 10 knots, increasing as the accumulation of ice increases. Adding bit of power can help counter this airspeed loss. Your most important task is to take positive action immediately. Where are the tops? Can you request clearance to climb above them. Ask ATC where the tops are. Often they will know or can ask another aircraft in the area where they are. Where is the warmer air? Another option is to descend to a point above the freezing level. Once you attain 32 degrees or more, any ice will peel off within a minute or two at most. If you find yourself in conditions that have changed to afford no escape hatch options, find the nearest airport and land.

Independent Schools Offer Several Benefits For Students

Independent schools differ from public institutions in a few ways. The main one is that they are self-funded and self-governed, so they do not depend on the city, state, or federal government to stay funded. Instead, they usually charge tuition, and they may also accept cash donations. No matter where the funding comes from, there are a few advantages of a school that does not rely on the government for money.
One of the most important benefits of independent schools is that they usually offer high-quality education for all students. This is because they can carefully budget based on the money they either already have or know they will get from benefactors. By contrast, a public school often has a fluctuating budget that depends on the tax rate and overall economy since it is funded by taxpayers. Therefore, in a bad economy, programs may be unexpectedly cut, and due to this, there may not be a good variety of classes available for students.
This advantage applies to extracurricular programs, too. Since many independent schools have control of their own budget, they can offer a wide variety of after-school options. If you want your kids to have their pick of several sports, clubs, and performing arts options, choosing this type of school may be a good idea. This will help them with their college applications since most universities like to see a variety of extracurricular activities on any student's resume. If your kids have a passion for a program that the typical public school cannot afford, independent schools may be the best choice.
Additionally, due to the fact that the budget is often higher, this type of option usually attracts experienced teachers. This can clearly be quite beneficial for students. You want to send your kids to an educational institution that is able to appeal to the best teachers, not just new graduates or average teachers who are simply desperate for a job. This type of educational institution offers enough benefits and opportunities to teachers that it has its pick of several applicants. Such teachers usually end up offering students the help they need, which may include one-on-one assistance and constant communication with parents to update them on how their kids are doing.
If you are trying to decide whether public or independent schools are the best for your kids, you should keep these benefits in mind. There is no way to say that either type is the best for everyone, but you can look at the benefits of each. Then you should schedule a time to check out the campus and talk to administrators before making up your mind.

Key Learning Skills

Learning takes place through the active behavior of the learner. It requires the ability of the learners to plan how to meet their targets, follow their plans and improve their performances. Key learning skills refer to a particular set of skills that is commonly needed in a range of activities in learning process. These skills include listening skill, communication skill, note-taking skill and test taking skill.
Listening skill:
To achieve short term goals, medium term goals and career goals efficiently, learners must be good listeners. The ability to listen carefully allows them to better understand assignments, build rapport with classmates and teachers, work in a team-based environment, answer questions and find underlying meanings in what other say. To demonstrate to the speaker that they are paying attention, they should do these things.

1. Maintain eye contact
2. Sit still
3. Nod their head
4. Lean toward the speaker
5. Repeat instructions
6. Ask appropriate questions when the speaker has finished

Communication skill:
To describe thoughts clearly, concisely and convincingly, learners need good oral communication skill. It is extremely important to develop the ability to converse, to discuss, to argue persuasively and to speak in the classroom.

Note-taking skill:
It is one of the most effective ways to understand the material being presented in the class. To take notes effectively from the lectures, learners should do these things.

1. Write title and date on the page
2. Leave a wide margin to add questions, comments and new information later
3. Skip lines between the subtopics
4. Highlight key phrases

To take notes from textbooks, they should do these things.
1. Skim the whole section
2. Write in their own words
3. Describe a sequence of events
4. Enlist main topics and the subtopics in outline form
5. Make graphical organizer if necessary
6. Categorize detail
7. Write a summary for each section

To take notes from the classroom discussion, they should do these things.
1. Use a personal form of short hand of symbols and abbreviations of common words
2. Listen for key words
3. Use arrows or stars to indicate most important points

Test taking skill:
It is another effective way to get good performance. Before taking the test, learners must have knowledge about test anticipation. It includes format of the test, time required for the test and worth of the test. To prepare the test, they should do these things.

1. Study difficult and boring subjects first
2. Schedule study time during their best time of the day
3. Take regular short breaks
4. Study where they will be alert (not in bed, or in easy chair or sofa where they can get too comfortable)
5. Concentrate on remembering the main idea
6. Ask questions of themselves
7. Study with a partner to compare notes

Lastly, to post test analysis of the test, they should do these things.
1. Analyze the received grades
2. Analyze the missing answers
3. Analyze the type of questions (did they perform better on certain types of questions)
4. Analyze the time of the test (did they have enough time to finish the test and to review answers).

What Advantages Does A Private High School Offer Students?

If you are thinking of putting your child in a private high school instead of a public one, you should do some research on the features to look for. You will find that most private schools offer some advantages that you cannot get just anywhere, but you need to sift through them to narrow down your search. You should learn about a few of the top benefits that you may find at schools of this type, and then you can decide if they are important to you. You can then look for schools with these features.
One of the most important details of a good high school is small class size. Many public schools are overflowing with kids, as each class might have upwards of 30 or even 35 students. However, many private institutions limit the size to about 15 to 20 kids per class. This is a good thing because it allows each teacher to offer every student more attention, which tends to improve the ability to learn. Therefore, you should keep this in mind when looking for schools for your child.
Another feature to look for is a range of interesting classes. For example, while the typical high school might only offer Spanish and French as foreign languages, private schools often have several other languages to choose from. This is especially important if your child is actually interested in studying a particular language that is not usually offered. Of course, many colleges tend to look at a wide range of classes as a good thing, since they can teach students more varied subjects than usual. If you want your child to have a chance to take unique courses, you should find a high school with several classes to choose from.
In addition, some colleges actually work closely with schools to make sure students are prepared to get an advanced education. This means that teachers are careful to teach skills that can be used in college, along with advanced coursework when appropriate. Also, college counselors may be on-hand to talk to students and give them advice. If you think your child could use some help of this kind, which would likely help prepare him or her for college, you should look into schools offering these features.
A simple visit to the website or campus of a local private high school could give you the answers you are looking for. If you think your child would benefit from and appreciate these advantages, you should start researching. You are sure to find at least one location that offers these benefits.

World Religions

Our lives are full of questions, many of which are very hard to answer. Why are we born? Why do we die? How did the world come into being? Why is there unhappiness and suffering in the world as well as joy and love? Religions are sets of ideas and beliefs that try to make sense of these mysteries. In many cases, they also offer principals by which people should live their lives. The first religions were spirit religions dedicated to the many spirits or gods of nature. Spirit religions were not written down, but used stories and myths to explain the world. Today there are many different religions, each with its own god or gods. Two of the major religions: Islam and Christianity. The third, Hinduism, has many gods.

Christians are the followers of Jesus Christ, a preacher who lived 2,000 years ago in Palestine. Many people were suspicious of Jesus and his teachings and while still a young man he was arrested and crucified (hung on a cross to die). Three days after his death his tomb was found empty and he appeared to his followers several times before he finally ascended into heaven. Christians believe that Jesus was the son of God and that he died to release people from their sins. The symbol of Christianity is the crucifix (cross) on which Jesus Christ died.

The religion of Islam began 1,400 years ago in the city of Mecca when Allah (the Muslim name for God), spoke to Muhammad the prophet. Muhammad wrote down Allah's word in the holy book, the Quran. Islam means submission, and the followers of Islam, called Muslims, submit themselves to Allah's will and try to live in a way that is pleasing to Him. When they die, Muslims believe that they are judged and sent either to heaven or hell. Muslims pray five times a day facing towards Mecca, but can worship anywhere, even in the street. All Muslims must try to make a pilgrimage (called Hajj) to the holy city of Mecca once in their lives.

Hinduism began in India around 5,000 years ago and is one of the oldest religions. Hindus believe in a supreme soul or spirit without form, called Brahman. There are many other Hindu gods, but they all represent different aspects of Brahman's power and character. Hindus believe that when you die your soul is reborn in another body as a person or an animal. This is called the cycle of rebirth, and your actions in this life influence what you become in the next life. Every Hindu seeks to live a good life so that their soul can break out of this cycle and join with the Brahman.

The first religions were based on the worship of the spirits or gods of the natural world; in the animals, plants, rivers and mountains. These are called animist religions and they are traditional religions passed down by word of mouth. Animist religions are still practiced all over the world.

The information gathered in order to write the article is taken from the notes of mine which were in a raw form, after modification and addition of some of my own knowledge, i came up with this finished form of article.

In Home Tutor Services for All Ages

Having a tutor is one of the advantages that your child could have over his or her peers. There are a number of benefits that come from getting a professional to guide and supervise the child in almost every aspect of his education. Tutoring can be done for any age and can be most advantageous for individuals in their older years, especially those in high school and college, where the subjects can be very difficult and confusing. Even parents who have gone through these subjects during their high school or college days may have already forgotten them or have gotten lost in the new subjects that are being introduced these days. Tutorial experts often have a vast experience with regards to their subject specialty or they are actually teachers of the subject and are updated with their knowledge and experience regarding a particular subject. Math and the many subspecialties under it is one of the most sought after topics of tutorials especially for high school and college students. The tutor may be a math major in college or a teacher who focuses on mathematics. Science and other subjects that fall subsequently under this are also part of the difficulties that high school and college students experience in school. Physics, chemistry and other subspecialties in science can be too much for a child. Foreign languages are also another subject that can be difficult for those who are not inclined to be linguists.

Benefits

The benefits of getting an in home tutor are many. Aside from the fact that these experts are there to supervise your kids with their education and help to make them understand and get better grades, the fact that they go to your home is another advantage. The expense of driving your child to and from a place that houses teachers can be very expensive. If the teacher goes to the home, his or her fare or expense in getting to and from your house rests on his or her shoulders, unless otherwise stated. It also saves time to have the child wait in the comfort of the house instead going out every day or regularly for the tutorials. In home tutoring also assures the parent of a one on one approach that is not always guaranteed in study halls or paces where tutors converge to teach their tutees. The one on one approach is also another guarantee that the teacher will be able to get to know the needs of your child without the interruptions that usually come when putting your child in a study pool. Having the tutor go to the home can also give the parent lots of time to do chores around the house instead of wasting time driving to and from one place.

These are just a few of the advantages that come from getting an in home teacher. There are many others that can be seen by the parents once the teacher is present in their home. The arrangement for the tutor may be done privately or through the school.

Do Your Kids Need Private Tutors?

Schools are the building blocks of a child's mental growth. Teachers, fellow students, and activities done in class all make learning so much easier and fun. Though majority of kids can pick up daily lessons really quick, there may be a few kids in class that might need extra attention, and there could be a chance that this kid could be your very own son or daughter.

So when would a parent like you know that it's time to send your kid to a tuition centre, and give them more study hours so that they fully understand everything they're learning at school?

Failing Grades

At one point in our lives we all have experienced failing a quiz or a test given to us by our teacher. Failing some subjects isn't really good, but it's normal and kids will experience this especially with their least liked subjects. However if the failing subjects happen more often than expected then this could be a sign that your kid needs extra help.

Failing grades happen for two main reasons, either you're child isn't interested at all in the subject or the teacher's teaching style isn't so effective. Enrolling in a tuition agency in Singapore can be the best way to improve grades and school performance.

Lack of Attention

This is common especially for kids who are just starting out in school. Kids simply love to play, and most of them find school boring and uninteresting which is why it never gets their attention which means that they really never listen to their teachers. You will notice an increased lack of attention in kids if their eyes wander off whenever you talk to them, but they listen attentively to you when the topic is about play or any other stuff that they find exciting.

One of the best ways to solve this is to change the teaching style. His or her current teacher may be too boring for him or her which is why the child never really learns anything in school. Getting a tutor at a tuition centre means that you are entitled to a private tutor who can create lesson plans tailor made specifically for the needs of the child and is based usually on what are the weaknesses of the kid.

Low Self Esteem and Confidence

It is very common that a child experiences low self esteem and confidence after a test failure or when he or she fails to answer during class recitation. These can result to kids feeling that they aren't smart enough or good enough like their other classmates, and when this happens they completely lose interest in the subject and results to bad grades and poor performances. Enrolling your child in a tuition agency in Singapore can help them understand the lessons better, know what their weaknesses are, and get a tutor who gives their full attention to them. When this happens, kids become more confident since they feel that they know more and understand the lessons better resulting to improved class performance and grades.

Brief Notes on US History

History is a very important subject. It is of paramount importance to know the history of the world that we live. However, not many people are interested in learning history. They say that history is boring. But, it is necessary that you know the history of the country you live, at the least. I presume that the readers of this article are from USA. So, a brief knowledge of the US history is important. Let me quickly run through the history of USA in this article.

It is a well-known fact that Christopher Columbus is the discoverer of America. It dates back to the 15th century. To be specific, it is in the year 1492 that he discovered it. It is known to be an accidental discovery. He actually intended to go to Asia but he completely lost the route and went elsewhere. It is said that he and his crew had to travel for days together without finding any land area. It is said that it was approximately 30 days before they could find any land area and the land area that they found turned out to be America.

Division of American into 50 different states is a story in itself. It was only in the 18th century that the efforts to divide America into states began mainly after the American revolutionary war. George Washington was the star for America in the American revolutionary war which began as a revolt against the colonial rule of British. It started in the year 1775. George Washington was fittingly rewarded for his efforts as he was made the first president of USA. There were 13 colonies under the British rule which developed into 50 states over time. All the 50 states weren't formed at once though. The formation was spread out over the years. Delaware was announced as the first state of USA in the year 1787. The last one was Hawaii in the year 1959.

If you look at the years above, you might be able to figure out that USA is a relatively new country and doesn't have a long history or a rich tradition as compared to some of the other older countries. But, USA is one of the best democracies in the world and a highly developed nation.

One of the most important but difficult times in the history of USA should be during the great depression. There was a serious slump in the economy of USA. But, this great depression was very important in molding USA into a better country.

A single article is not enough to discuss the history of USA. If you are a student who is really interested in studying the history of USA, then there is a course on US history called 'AP US History' that can help you in developing your knowledge of US history.

Finding a SAT Tutoring Specialist to Help You to Prepare

Having a strong SAT score is one of the most important criteria that you will need to get into the college of your choice. Every year there are thousands of students across the country busy preparing to take their SAT's. Formerly known as the Scholastic Aptitude Test or the Scholastic Assessment Test, this test measures an individual's aptitude in critical reading and writing, as well as mathematics. Most colleges and universities require it of all of their applicants. For those who are panicking about taking the test there is SAT tutoring to give them the peace of mind that they will be prepared when the day to take the examination rolls around.

With the right level of preparation and the assistance of a good tutor who knows his or her stuff, you can acquire the skills that you need to not only pass the test but to excel on it! SAT tutoring may not be necessary for every student but if you feel that you could benefit from the extra help then it is a very good idea to find a qualified tutor to help you to learn and to brush up on the areas that you anticipate will present a problem for you when you sit down to write.

How do you find a SAT tutoring expert?

What you first need to do is to research your options. There are big companies that offer SAT tutoring and there are also those who work as independent tutors. For instance, many high school teachers and college students choose to freelance or work part-time to supplement their incomes. Check out the various options available to you and then decide if you would rather hire someone from one of the larger firms who specializes in this area or if you would rather work with an individual.

You need to interview and consult with each person that you are thinking about hiring to help you to prepare for your exam. Ask the person about his credentials. You not only want to choose someone who is smart and successful in an academic sense but also someone who is excellent at taking tests. Most companies who hire individuals for this job will not accept anyone for employment who scored below the 90th percentile on their SAT. There is nothing wrong with expecting the same high standards from an independent contractor.

It is wise to schedule a preliminary appointment to discuss what your specific needs are for the SAT tutoring. Some individuals may need help in one or two particular sections while other students may wish to improve their test taking skills in general. Only you can know for sure which category you fall into.

Before you move forward you must discuss price. Find out about the fees per session as well as if the person charges cancellation fees for missed appointments. Some will charge a fee if you cancel without giving 24 hours notice while others will not.

If You Want To Power Up Your Study Habits Then Here Are Some Great Study Tips For You

There are many useful study tips and techniques on how to study and most of them have a use. Study involves reading books, watching videos, listening to audio recordings, researching facts in libraries or on the Web and attending lessons/lectures. The result of these activities can be enhanced if you know how to study.

The Best Way to Study

What you study will be determined by the subject but how you study is up to you. You attend your classroom lessons and lectures but if you want to do well in the exam you will study on your own in addition. Knowing how to study consists of taking notes, timing and timetable planning. You should also select the best area to study where you are surrounded by all you will need for you studies such as books, computers, pens, pencils and paper and most important it is quiet with no disturbances such as cell phones - you are not available during study time.

The Best Timing Strategy for Study Sessions

Because of the way memory works it is better to time your studying in short sharp bursts. I recommend that a study session be broken down into one hour chunks. Each chunk is carried out as follows:

• First 5 minutes revising the material studied in the last session (First hour study the last session of the last study period). This satisfies the need for Frequency.

• Main 40 Minutes intensely studying the new material. This satisfies the need for Intensity.

• Next 5 minutes revise what you have just studied. This satisfies the need for Frequency.

• Finally relax for 10 minutes. Do something different, leave the study area, make a cup of hot drink or go for a walk. This period is when the mind sorts out the material from short term memory to long term memory (Empties the glass into the tank). It is vital not to skimp on this or you will lose a lot of your studies.

Designing a Study Timetable

Designing a study timetable is as important as knowing how to study. So as to get the most out of the time available it is best to make a plan in the form of a Study Timetable. A wise man said that if you fail to plan then you plan to fail so you should plan your time according to what is available. Start by laying out a grid (You can use a spreadsheet such as Excel to do this if it helps) allowing for a week with three periods a day: Morning, Afternoon and Evening. Start by blocking of the times fully committed and therefore not available such as School/College/Lecture time. Block off time for Meals and enough social time for example if you like to go out with your friends on a Saturday night then block this off - do not fool yourself, if you want to go out then plan it and that way you will not fail in that section of your study. What is left is your available study time. Planning is one of the best study tips.

Remember to divide the time into one hour chunks and allocate you subjects so as to take up the time available. It is best to study the subject in the evening of the day you covered it in college so as to simulate the study hour above (study what you did last time, do this sessions study then revise this sessions study). If you should miss a session don't worry, just continue as planned at the next session, you should only go back if you have some spare time.

On a regular basis (weekly or monthly as suits your lifestyle) do a revision day and again go over what you have studied since the last revision day. Make this as relaxing an event as possible and if you can involve friends and fellow students and a tutor/teacher all the better.

How do I get the most out of Revision?

Exam revision starts with taking notes whilst studying. These notes will come into much use during the revision process as a representation of distillation of the knowledge needed to pass the exam. To just re-read all the books studied is counterproductive because it does not take into consideration the effort taken to study in the first place.

Exam Revision Timetable

Revision timetable is very similar to the study timetable but more detailed and even more vital to success.

Setting Priorities

The best among revision study tips is to start setting priorities for your revision. Don't lose sight of the fact that the goal is to get good exam results and that revision is just a means to an end not the end in itself. You might, for example, have a subject which you consider more important than the rest or in need of extra work to get a result. You might have some personal priorities such as a concert that you have been waiting for a year to go to and you want this to be of a very high priority.

An Enigma of Human Mind - The Appeal of Puzzle Games Throughout the Ages

Who does not want a good challenge? Throughout the ages, puzzles have been important parts of our human experience. A puzzle is merely a problem, a simple question, or a challenge. It is intended to challenge the mind, our senses and our ingenuity to solve complicated problems either in logistical or mathematical nature. Successful resolution can sometimes be attributed to mathematics.

One of the most popular types of puzzles to have ever graced the world is the Jigsaw puzzle. Its origins have been dated around 1760 where a London-based map maker and engraver decided to mount a map on wood, cut it and used it in teaching geography to children. The idea became a hit and ever since, jigsaw puzzles have become essential educational tools, even today. Of course, the wealth of puzzles for educational purposes has become expansive and now, there are unique kinds of puzzles to test kids. Some puzzles are open-ended while others offer a specific conclusion.

The Rubik's cube has become one of the most popular puzzles in the 20th century. It was developed in 1974 by Hungarian professor, Erno Rubik. Its popularity and unique challenge to the user has become a sensation especially in the 1980s. before, the main goal of solving the Rubik's cube is to match all same colored tiles on all sides, but then, speed was included in the equation, amplifying the challenge and even today, competitions are being held dedicated to solving the cube in record time.

Word puzzles come in all forms, providing groups of people and individual players a fun activity or past time at home, school or work. From crossword puzzles, word finding puzzles, and pictograms, from ancient times to the information age, word puzzles are still highly popular especially for English-speaking populations. A lot of regional adaptations have been made throughout the years.

The popularity of puzzles paved way to tons of adventure, suspense and action movies and games. From the death-defying puzzles games in notable games like Tomb Raider, the adventures of Indiana Jones, to the mystery clues of Sherlock Holmes, the idea of problem solving has been reinvented several times, creating an almost cynical look at the world today. Complexities of puzzles are highly used in Hollywood films and are also adapted in numerous games. There is a challenge in creating a puzzle and when executed flawlessly, gives both the creator and the player an exhilarating experience.

The Ideal Polymaths - Leonardo Da Vinci, Alexander Von Humboldt, Athanasius Kircher

By definition, a polymath is someone whose knowledge spans a considerable number of various subject areas. In layman's terms, they are people who know a whole lot about a lot. The word is closely related to the common term Renaissance man, since the latter is one who is educated or who does extremely well in a broad variety of fields or subjects. On the other hand, because polymath is an ancient term, the meaning ascribed to polymaths in this day and age is substantially different than in olden times.

How is this so? For starters, in those early days of civilization, science was yet to be divided into its specific fields such as chemistry, astronomy, zoology, etc., for the reason that these labels were not yet created. Back then, science was unified, and its sole purpose was to build and organize knowledge about the entire universe. The result would be that there were no such things a specialized scientists (no chemists, no zoologists) - maybe an astronomer or an artist, though. So it would be completely natural for a scientist of such stature as Copernicus to be a physician, a mathematician, and an astronomer at the same time, since all these involved the construction of knowledge about the universe. Consequently, this would make Copernicus as well as Isaac Newton and Francis Bacon polymaths today.

Centuries ago, there were many significant polymaths, but there is no other polymath who is as celebrated and revered as Leonardo da Vinci, the archetypal Renaissance man. Even today, Leonardo da Vinci is usually referred to as the most talented man to have ever walked the face of this planet. Say this in one breath: he was an architect, anatomist, botanist, engineer, cartographer, geologist, mathematician, scientist, musician, painter, sculptor, inventor, and writer. Not only did Leonardo da Vinci paint the Mona Lisa or drew the Vitruvian Man, he also conceptualized the calculator, helicopter, solar power - inventions that were only feasible one or two centuries ago.

Alexander von Humboldt is known as the last Renaissance man in civilization. He is known to have significantly contributed to every field of the natural sciences from botany to geology to zoology - Alexander von Humboldt also created the field of meteorology. But the most important contribution made by Alexander von Humboldt was his theory that all these varied scientific fields were interconnected, meaning that every living thing is connected to every part of nature.

Athanasius Kircher was a 17th century scholar, who was also known as "the master of a hundred arts." As a scholar, Athanasius Kircher is sometimes referred to as the father of Egyptology, since he was one of the first people to not only interpret hieroglyphic writing but to also relate it to other ancient forms of writing such as the Coptic languages. He was also a geologist, and probably the first person to scientifically understand the effects of microbes and microorganisms. The magnetic clock, the automaton, and the megaphone are inventions attributed to Athanasius Kircher.

Joseph Leidy was the first paleontologist to successfully excavate a complete fossilized skeleton of a dinosaur. Other scientific fields which were of interest to Joseph Leidy were parasitology, geology, and mineralogy. But the fame of Joseph Leidy rests on him becoming the first person to utilize a microscope in order to finally solve a murder case. A lot of people now refer to him as one of the founding fathers of forensic science.

Life After Death: Zoroastrianism/Parsiism

Zoroastrianism heavily influenced the development of the Judeo-Christian traditions, from its worldview right down to its suppositions about the afterlife. It is currently practised by millions of people in Iran and also in India, where followers are called Parsis.

The truths of Zoroastrianism are found in the Gathas, five poetic songs composed by Zarathustra and preserved by Zoroastrianist priests over the centuries. As well as being one of the original monotheistic religions, Zoroastrianism was first responsible for bringing a moral element into the discussion of the afterlife. Humans do have individual, immortal souls, and the themes of Heaven and Hell infuse this faith, rather than those of karma and reincarnation.

The motto of Zoroastrianism is "Good Thoughts, Good Words, Good Deeds". Following their life on earth, each person is judged by God according to how much good or bad they have done. If you have opted to live in purity, your soul will be directed to Heaven or "best existence," as it is simply called by Zoroastrians. Those who have practised evil end up in "worst existence," or Hell.

Upon dying, a person must pass across a narrow bridge. At the entrance to the bridge stands Conscience or daena, a maiden who represents the individual soul. Pure souls view her as a beautiful and dignified woman, but evil souls see her as a witch. She leads the good over the bridge to the "House of Songs" to become angel-like creatures who watch over people on earth. Those who reject her are cast into the abyss below to dwell in the "House of Lies".

This faith has been called practical and world-oriented. Because it is focussed on the causality which links the presence of good thoughts to creating peace and happiness in the world, it does not reflect any anti-religion or anti-cultural sentiment toward other faiths. The emphasis lies on good thoughts and good action, thus guaranteeing your happiness in the after-world.

Zoroastrians believe in the progress of sacred time, where everything on earth is gradually evolving to become its true heavenly idea. Inside the minds of all human beings, there is an ongoing struggle between Good and Evil - Spenta Mainyi, the Holy Creative Spirit, battles with Angra Mainyu, the hostile spirit. This is a constant human ethical struggle. Some Zoroastrians believe it stems from a cosmic duality where the universe possesses two sides, Good and Bad, ruled respectively by the Good God and Evil Spirit.

Ahura Mazda (Wise Lord) is transcendent but also connected to human beings through a set of seven Attributes, which are Godlike qualities that exist on earth to allow us to be closer to the divine source of life. The Attributes are as follows: Vohu Manah (Good Thought - connected with animals); Asha Vahishta (Justice and Truth - fire and energy); Kshathra (Dominion - metals and minerals); Spenta Armaiti (devotion and Serenity - Earth and land); Haurvatat (wholeness - waters); Ameretat (immortality - plants); and Spenta Mainyu (creative energy - human beings).

These qualities are sometimes embodied as divine spirits or concepts, but never worshipped on their own. Through them, humans can connect with God and refine their thoughts toward goodness and purity.

Alexander Von Humboldt, Polymath and Renaissance Man

According to Charles Darwin, the Prussian explorer, geographer and naturalist Alexander von Humboldt was "the greatest scientific traveler who ever lived." In fact, it was during his famed voyages in Latin America that von Humboldt cultivated his modern scientific concepts and ideas, which garnered him prominence within the scientific community at that particular day and age. The central idea scientific thinking was that absolutely nothing on our planet could be fully comprehended in isolation. Every living thing had to be understood in relation to other fields of science such as astronomy or meteorology. As we will explain later, von Humboldt's thesis is not at all surprising, for the main reason that his scientific thinking expanded well beyond his respected field; consequently, he is now known to us as a celebrated polymath and the last Renaissance man in history.

When he was just a child, Alexander von Humboldt was known to his family and friends as "the little apothecary", since he developed a penchant for collecting and labeling different types of insects, plants, and seashells. Already his all-around interests in various phenomena, which would widen continually during his early education, foreshadow his future polymath expertise. Von Humboldt studied finance for half a year in the University of Frankfurt; one year later, he enrolled in the University of Gottingen, where he was able to listen wholeheartedly to the lectures of the revered archaeologist C.G. Heyne and the naturalist J.F. Blumenbach.

It was shortly after he published his first scientific treatise that centered his passions on travel. Here, he befriended Georg Forster, now known today as the founding father of modern scientific travel literature. In order to prepare for his future travels, he then studied commerce and foreign languages in the University of Hamburg, geology at the University of Freiberg under the teaching of A.G. Werner, astronomy and scientific engineering under J.G. Köhler and F.X. von Zach, and anatomy at the University of Jena under the famed anatomist and surgeon J.C. Loder. The vast field of knowledge of this Renaissance man would widen even more when von Humboldt made the acquaintance of the botanist Aimé Bonpland, and together they set off for the uncharted territories of Latin America.

With his extensive knowledge on the physical sciences, von Humboldt, now in Latin America, was able to collect important data concerning more or less every field of natural science: archaeology, botany, geology, geography, oceanography and zoology. Because of his polymath manner of thinking, he was bright enough to harmonize all these different fields of sciences into a single, prescient thesis. This theory stated that everything in nature is interconnected. For instance, biology, geology, and meteorology (a science that von Humboldt founded), determined where specific flora and fauna grew; another example proposed that the continents bordering the Atlantic Ocean were joined long ago.

All these modern scientific views were to be published in a massive five-volume work called "Cosmos", but Alexander von Humboldt, the last Renaissance man, died before he could complete it. However, his mark on science remains indelible to this very day.

The Victorian Ethos of the Discovery and Exploration of a New World

The zenith age of the Industrial Revolution coincided with the beginnings of the Victorian Ethos. What characterized the Victorian Ethos was an undying passion and curiosity for exploration, for the discovery of the unknown. The figures that embodied this philosophy were the scientist naturalists. And with the great strides in engineering during this fertile period, these scientist naturalists could not have chosen a better period in history to begin their dreams of discovering and exploring the unknown regions across the world. Out of this voyaging came the numerous scientific concepts and ideas that continue to remain relevant in our present day and age.

Due to the vigorous explorations of the scientific field in the Victorian Age, the secrets of the world's past were brought into light. The American paleontologist Joseph Leidy was the first scientist to uncover a fossilized skeleton of a dinosaur. The continuing research of Joseph Leidy was able to discover scores of extinct species that were previously unheard of till then.

Journeying to the far flung corners of the globe was an obsession unique to the Victorian Age. The explorers Henry Bates and Percy Fawcett embodied this spirit more than anybody else. Henry Bates is world-renowned for being one of the first explorers to successfully voyage into the Amazon Forest. After his expedition, he returned home to England and brought back a stunning catalogued collection of over 14,000 different types of flora and fauna - including a massive assortment of butterflies and some carnivorous pitcher plants, which aroused the curiosity of many Victorians during that era. 8,000 of these species were completely new to science. Meanwhile, Percy Fawcett is legendary for his mad expedition in the South American jungle to find the lost city of "Z", which was thought to be El Dorado. In 1925, Fawcett and his expedition team, in search of "Z", vanished without a trace. To this day, no one knows for sure what exactly happened to them.

Sir Richard Owen is best known today for coining the term "dinosauria", or dinosaur. However, the greatest contribution of Sir Richard Owen to the Victorian era was his dedication to the founding and establishment of the British Museum of Natural History in London. Because the institution was open to everyone, scores of Victorians now had the chance to see first-hand the vast compilation of scientific items important to the fields of botany, paleontology, entomology, zoology, etc.

Probably the most learned man in the Victorian Era, Sir Richard Francis Burton was famed for travelling to the farthest reaches of Asia, Africa, and America. Reported to speak 29 different languages and dialects, Sir Richard Francis Burton was important to the Victorian Era for collecting and bringing back from his travels essential pieces of literature - including the "Arabian Nights" and the "Kama Sutra" - which he then translated into English for the Victorian population.

These scientist naturalists - Joseph Leidy, Henry Bates, Percy Fawcett, Sir Richard Owen, and Sir Richard Francis Burton - were all men molded by their peculiar times, driven by the Victorian Ethos. Without their contributions to their respective fields, our civilization would be less rich and our world would be less open to our curiosity.

Using Math Worksheets

What are math worksheets and what are they used for? These are math forms that are used by parents and teachers alike to help the young kids learn basic math such as subtraction, addition, multiplication and division. This tool is very important and if you have a small kid and you don't have a worksheet, then its time you got yourself one or created one for your kid. There are a number of sites over the internet that offer free worksheets that are downloadable and printable for use by parents and teachers at home or at school.

If you cannot purchase a math work sheet because you think you may not have time to, then you can create on using your home computer and customize it for your kid. Doing this is easy. All you need is Microsoft word application in your computer to achieve this. Just open the word application in your computer and start a new document. Ensure that the new document you are about to create is based on a template. Then, ensure that your internet connection is on before you can search the term "math worksheet" from the internet. You will get templates of all kinds for your worksheet. Choose the one you want and then download.

Once downloaded, you can customize the math worksheet to suit your kid. The level of the child in school will determine the look and content of the worksheet. Use the school textbook that your child uses at school as a reference guide to help you in the creation of the math worksheet. This will ensure that the worksheet is totally relevant to the kid and will help the child improve his or her grades in school.

The math worksheet is not only for the young children in kindergarten and early primary school; they are also used for tutoring high school and university students to keep the students' math skills sharp. The sites that offer these worksheets have helped a lot and this resource is now a common thing to use for all kinds and levels of educators. The formats for the worksheets differ according to the level and content of the worksheets. For the young kids it is preferable to have the worksheet in large print, while the older students commonly use the small print ones that are simple and uncluttered.

The most important thing about these math worksheets is that they are used for tutoring and not for the main course studies. That is why they are used by tutors to offer remedial tuition and by parents at home so that they can offer their kids extra tuition to sharpen their skills. Math is known to be difficult and is often a headache for the young and so the math worksheets come in handy in helping resolve this problem. Thanks to the sites over the internet that offer free printable math worksheets, you do not need to worry about the cost of purchasing one, maybe only the ink cost. So don't go making excuses for not being able to access a math work sheet.

Everybody is different and this is particularly true when it comes to learning. Some people are able to absorb everything in a lesson while others find this much harder

Choosing Accessories For Your Custom Board

Whilst custom boards can be extremely useful for a number of workplaces, including classrooms, offices and even shops, you will need some equally useful accessories to ensure that you are using the board to the best of its ability. There are a number of different accessory brands and products currently on the market that can allow you to use your board as functionally and efficiently as possible.

Whiteboard markers: Never attempt to use permanent markers or other kinds of text as on your custom board. Instead, only use pens that have specifically designed for use on a whiteboard. Many people tend to look for markers that are non-toxic and low odor so that they are much more safe for use in most environments. You are also given the choice between which nib you would like to use, including bullet-tip, chisel-tip and fine-point.

Whiteboard erasers: In many respects, this is the most important accessory that you will own for your custom board. Erasers are available in all shapes and sizes, meaning that they can tackle anything from the largest to the smallest erasing jobs. It is even possible to find erasers that can be used on both whiteboards and chalkboards, meaning that you don't have to switch between the two.

Cleaning products: To ensure that your board remains in the same condition that you purchased it in, it is important that you regularly clean and maintain it. This means that you will need to have a range of suitable cleaning products on hand, including: sprays, wipes, and permanent ink removers. Each of these products has been specifically designed for use on whiteboards and will remove stains with ease.

Whiteboard magnets: If you had the foresight to invest in a magnetic custom board, you will probably find that having some magnets on hand will be highly useful. These magnets are available in all shorts of shapes and sizes - from plain ones that are so small they often go unnoticed to extravagant ones that are in the shape of letters or animals - meaning that you will find a type to suit your needs.
Having the right sort of accessories on hand will ensure that you are able to use your custom board to the best of its ability. Not only will you be getting your money's worth, you will make your life much easier. Whilst the vital accessories are markers and erasers, it is also worth having a cleaning product or two on hand and some magnets if they will be able to adhere to your board.

All You Need to Know About PMP Exams

If you're an IT manager and are part of all the initiating and planning of projects that IT managers usually do then you need to take the Project Management Professional or PMP exams. The PMP certification is issued by the Project Management Institute. This is especially well suited for managers who are in the software and the network design sector. Having a PMP certificate denotes that as a manager you have proper knowledge of the fundamentals of managing projects and you can use them appropriately.

Find out about the eligibility requirement of the PMP exams first. The next thing that you need to find out is the syllabus of the exam. Find out the name of the book that is best for preparing for such an exam. You will have to become the member of PMI first. You will also get access to the various seminars. You will also know about various training courses conducted by them. You might also get discounts on course fees. In short, you will get all kinds of information required to sit for the exam.

The study plan must be carefully etched before sitting for the exams. The preparation should be planned. The lack of effective planning is the only reason why so many students fail to pass the test every year. Most people who have cracked the exam have referred to the PMBOK guide. This book mostly tries to teach to logically analyse the input and output methods including the Tools and Technique. You can also find sample questions before sitting for the exams.
